Yesterday afternoon, a tragic incident at the Tennessee National Marina took the life of 75-year-old Knoxville resident James Doyle Frost, as reported by WATE. Witnesses say Frost was trying to dock his boat when he fell overboard into Watts Bar Lake and failed to resurface.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, alongside local law enforcement and rescue teams, spearheaded the recovery operation that led to the location of Frost's body using a Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV), despite the challenges and the lake's unforgiving embrace that afternoon. WVLT reports that the effort was a multi-agency collaboration, which included the Loudon County Dive Rescue team, who retrieved the body just after 9 a.m.
According to WATE, the TWRA extended "prayers and condolences for the victim’s family" after the distressing event. The Loudon Police Department's Deputy Chief Samuel Harrison recounted that a report of a boating incident was received around 4:24 p.m., prompting an immediate response from local agencies.
Various groups took up efforts to search for and ultimately recover Frost. These included the Loudon Police Department, Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Rescue Squad, and the Loudon Fire Department. All these teams worked with a sense of urgency and coordination that was necessary in the face of such unfortunate circumstances.
