The Fourth of July festivities took an unexpected turn for actor Danny Trejo in Los Angeles' Sunland-Tujunga neighborhood when he was involved in a public brawl during the local parade. According to KTLA, Trejo was riding in a vintage convertible when an altercation erupted after a water balloon was thrown at him.
Video footage that surfaced on social media captures Trejo, 80, stepping out of the car amidst children and parents, confronting a man on the sidewalk, and allegedly throwing a left hook, as per KTLA. The man retaliated, knocking Trejo to the ground.
"Childish" and "cowards," were the words Trejo used to describe the people who threw the water balloon, adding that it was a pointless act of provocation, as detailed by TMZ.
Danny Trejo's rough week was compounded by personal loss, having announced the passing of his 16-year-old chihuahua, Dixie, just days earlier. "Hold your babies tight for me please. Today I lost my little Dixie Wixie," Trejo told TMZ in an emotional plea.
Witnesses at the parade described a scene of confusion as the incident unfolded. Stanley Herrarte, a bystander, captured the tense moments on his cell phone and spoke to ABC7, stating, "This parade is like a thing where you throw water balloons back and forth at each other,".
