The ongoing case of Madalina Cojocari, the North Carolina girl reported missing, has taken a turn as authorities indicate that the child's mother, Diana Cojocari, now may be out of their reach. A former FBI Special Agent in Charge, Michael Tabman, indicated to Queen City News that there is not much authorities could do to keep her in the United States as she is free to come and go despite being a suspect in her daughter's disappearance.
Social media has been the primary source fueling speculations of Diana's departure, with one deleted post, presenting what seems to be Diana and her mother aboard a mode of transport, allegedly heading from New York to Germany, then onwards to Bucharest. This information, coupled with the evidence of her travel, surfaced on a Moldovan news website UniMedia and was further discussed by Channel 9, which obtained a screenshot of the aforementioned social media post.
The screenshot, which was initially shared on what is believed to be Diana’s Facebook page, was pivotal in spreading the word of her potential absence from the U.S. It showcased Cojocari with a caption translated to indicate her route via Germany to Romania. A photograph accompanying the post showed Cojocari, with her mother situated behind her, on what is presumed to be a bus or plane.
Tabman, quoted by Fox 8, stated, "She's free to come and go." He elaborated that the pushback Cornelius Police have faced in light of these developments is largely unwarranted, given the circumstances.
