After a tense day-and-a-half of searching and investigation, an armed kidnapping suspect in Hillsborough County has been arrested. The suspect, Jahvontae Bell, was taken into custody after detectives located the kidnapped victim, Jayanna Clark, who was fortunately found safe and unharmed. The team-up of the Hillsborough and Pinellas County Sheriff's Offices led to the resolution of the case which had set the community on high alert.
Describing an operation stretching over 18 hours, officials recovered Clark in the Largo area, specifically in the shed of a residence located on the 2200 block of 13th Street SW. Bell, alongside Clark, was spotted exiting the structure by law enforcement. The suspect is now facing multiple charges, including armed kidnapping and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as evidenced in a press release by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
The ordeal began in the early hours of July 18, when witnesses reported seeing Clark being forced into a car on Bordeaux Village Place in Tampa. Proceedings have rapidly evolved since then, with officials working against the clock to ensure Clark's safe return and the apprehension of Bell, who was already on the radar with a similar charge in Pinellas County.
"I'm relieved that this woman was found safely this evening," Sheriff Chad Chronister was quoted in the press release on Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
