Residents in Lewisville may notice Atmos Energy crews and their contractors canvassing neighborhoods as they undertake safety surveys of the local natural gas distribution system. Outfitted with mobile leak detection units, the utility's proactive measures are intended to ensure the ongoing reliability and safety of gas delivery in the area. The work kicked off yesterday, extending several days into the upcoming week.
Maps detailing the affected zones, one shaded in blue, and the other in orange, delineate the areas scheduled for inspection. The blue areas were attended to yesterday, July 7, and today, July 8; while the orange will follow suit on Tuesday, July 9, and Wednesday, July 10, according to the Lewisville Police Department.
Atmos Energy's initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to community safety and infrastructure integrity. The surveys are designed to identify and rectify any potential gas leaks, which can pose serious hazards if unchecked. To better inform residents, Atmos Energy has provided resources on recognizing signs of a gas leak and appropriate safety measures, which can be found on their website.
