The Texas Department of Public Safety is intensifying its search efforts for two fugitives with strong ties to the Austin area, who have recently been added to the “Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List,” according to reports from CBS Austin. The individuals, identified as 25-year-old Fabian Martinez Toribio and 32-year-old Octavio Cruz Hernandez, are wanted for grave offenses involving minors.
Toribio faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child from an incident dating back to January of this year and has a history of drug-related arrests. He has been a known figure to law enforcement, with an Austin police warrant out for his arrest and a Travis County warrant for drug possession. "Martinez Toribio has strong connections to Travis County, particularly Austin and Pflugerville,” said DPS spokesperson Jane Smith in a statement obtained by CBS Austin. Despite previous deportation in 2018, he re-entered the U.S. and was again apprehended for resisting arrest and drug possession in October 2023 but managed to bond out.
Concurrently, Hernandez has been sought by authorities in neighboring Bastrop County since April of this year for alleged sexual abuse of a child under 14. His citations by the law include a past conviction in Travis County for driving while intoxicated with a minor under 15 in the car. Following deportation, he was arrested by Kyle police in 2022 for another similar offense. Hernandez's presence has been noted in diverse locales including Austin, Kyle, Dripping Springs, and Cedar Creek, evidencing a pattern that spans multiple counties.
Both men are deemed to be armed and dangerous, and officials urge the public to refrain from engaging them directly. Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a monetary incentive of up to $5,000 for details that could lead to the arrest of either individual. Sources emphasize that tips can be communicated anonymously to authorities. Those with information are encouraged to call 1-800-252-TIPS or provide insights through an online submission via the DPS website, or even through a Facebook tip as outlined in their “submit a tip” link found in the “about” section, detailed in a report by KVUE.
