Baltimore and the surrounding region can expect a shift in weather as weak high pressure moves through, making for a dry Sunday. However, changes are on the horizon with the return of daily showers and thunderstorms starting Monday, which could last throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.
Today's forecast promises a comfortable climb into the low 90s with winds turning southwards, though the evening will usher in greater warmth, with lows above 70 degrees and increasing humidity. The start of the workweek will introduce a broad mid-level trough leading to heightened warmth and moisture in the area. The severe weather threat appears minimal due to "nearly moist adiabatic profiles and weak shear," but flood risk remains low due to existing extreme drought conditions, as mentioned in the National Weather Service's discussion.
For those out on the water, the Chesapeake Bay and lower Potomac will be under a Small Craft Advisory from Sunday evening to Monday evening due to strengthening winds, with resurging southerly channeling winds through Wednesday. Nevertheless, boaters should be aware of brief delays due to lightning-poor VSBYs, and brief gusty winds with thunderstorms especially on Wednesday afternoon and evening when thunderstorms could hit the waters. Going into Thursday, coastal regions should exercise caution as minor coastal flooding is likely this week, particularly at Annapolis as southerly winds strengthen and water levels rise.
