Authorities have confirmed the May 26 shooting of a 59-year-old man during a burglary at a Southwest Baltimore church was justified. WMAR-2 News reports that police investigations concluded the individual, identified as Norris Palmore, was shot by the church's pastor while breaking into Praise Cathedral, a structure reported to be vacant and undergoing construction on S. Mount Street.
This church, when officers and medics arrived on the scene, found Palmore with gunshot wounds deemed non-life-threatening and promptly transported him to the hospital. Despite the violent circumstances, revelations by the police indicate that the incident unfolded during an unlawful entry, as detailed by FOX Baltimore.
The charges against Palmore are weighty, with second-degree assault, fourth-degree burglary, attempted theft, and malicious destruction of property listed on court documents. He is no stranger to the criminal justice system, owning a record dating back to 1995 that includes drug offenses, burglary, and a sex offense. According to WMAR-2 News, Palmore now awaits his trial, scheduled for July 30.
