Setting up a perimeter to apprehend the suspect, officers encountered the vehicle and were led to a pursuit, during which the police said the driver, a 15-year-old boy, fled and hit two police vehicles. After a three-day hunt, as revealed by a police department flyer, the juvenile driving the stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee—bearing a Maryland tag, previously reported stolen from another Jeep—rammed into the police vehicles, in an attempt to elude capture.
The pursuit came to an end in the 5900 block of Pulaski Highway, where the vehicle was found disabled. The Baltimore Police's Foxtrot aerial unit had assisted in locating the vehicle, as noted in a report by WBALTV. Subsequently, the teenager was arrested and taken to juvenile booking for processing.
The vehicle's history of criminal activity was detailed in a police flyer after its involvement in an armed robbery in the 1200 block of Hollins Street on June 29. In this incident, a masked armed male demanded and made away with a man’s watch and wallet. "The wallet contained the man’s bank card, EBT card, appointment cards, and $21", as detailed by Fox Baltimore, with the victim's items valued at approximately $900.
Investigators were able to track the vehicle’s movements before the robbery using city cameras, which contributed to the eventual location and arrest of the suspect. Baltimore Police have reiterated the effectiveness of the License Plate Reader system in identifying and tracking down vehicles associated with criminal activity, aiding in the swift response of law enforcement to such incidents, and ultimately leading to the detention of suspects, including juveniles, like in the recent case on Pulaski Highway.
