The sought-after waterfront estate previously belonging to actor Kevin Spacey has found a new owner following a public auction on the courthouse steps in Baltimore. The home, situated in the upscale Harborview neighborhood and spanning a robust 9,000 square feet, exchanged hands for $3.24 million, as confirmed by Sam Sheibani of Compass, a real estate firm with national reach. Noteworthy for its connection to the actor once celebrated for his role in the Netflix series "House of Cards," the mansion had not seen a transfer of ownership in five years, as reported by CBS News.
In front of the Baltimore Circuit Court Thursday, despite the clamor of debt and foreclosure attempts that hung over the property for more than two years and caused previously planned auctions to be called off, the home witnessed its purchase by a Maryland developer. Purchased in 2017 through an LLC tied to Spacey for a significantly higher figure of $5.65 million. Once claimed by an LLC linked to Spacey, an interview with Piers Morgan revealed the actor's financial struggles, including his inability to afford to pay his bills and owing millions in legal fees, according to CBS News.
Details about the previous and recent transactions emerged, indicating that the home was once sold through Cleartoaster LLC during his time filming in Maryland. The actor's tenure in Maryland was not without dispute as he found himself embroiled in a legal battle in 2022, accused of not claiming full residency in the state, as WMAR reported.
