A murder investigation has been prompted following the grim discovery of a 71-year-old woman, Yong Cha Kim, deceased inside her home on the Big Island. According to KITV, the investigation began after police, having been summoned to the residence in the 16-1100 block of Uhini Ana Road in Mountain View, found Kim with multiple injuries that raised immediate concern.

Responding on June 20 to a call made by Kim's husband, officers encountered the victim unresponsive; her home showed signs of a scene disturbed, with items presumably stolen. The Hawaii Island authorities, following an autopsy performed on June 28, declared the cause of death to be strangulation, marking the case as a homicide, KITV reported. Killed sometime between June 18 and 20, Kim was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, Hawaii News Now details. Found by her husband, the woman was lying on the floor of their home.

As of now, no information on suspects or arrests in connection to the homicide have been disclosed. The authorities are investigating the murder as a second-degree case and are calling on the public to assist in shedding light on the situation. No arrests have been made at this time.
