Chaos ensued in the Cedar Village Mobile Home Park when a suspect set his own vehicle ablaze during a confrontation with law enforcement on Thursday. According to a report from the San Bernardino Sheriff-Coroner Department, released via Nixle, deputies responded to a reported hit and run where a man allegedly rammed his pickup into a maintenance golf cart.

Rolando Guillen Ochoa, the 58-year-old Bloomington resident named as the suspect, set his car on fire while attempting to elude a traffic stop by Deputy Nunez and his trainee, Deputy Valencia, the violent incident escalated quickly after the alleged assault. Deputies attempted a felony traffic stop near the complex's exit, during which Ochoa lit his vehicle on fire and came to a halt after driving a short distance.

Ochoa subsequently threw himself on the ground next to the driver’s door of the flaming pickup. Despite the risk of the exploding vehicle, Deputies Nunez and Valencia acted swiftly to pull Ochoa to safety, as the fire threatened nearby parked vehicles which eventually became severely damaged. With the area in danger and several homes at risk, the fire department was called to the scene and successfully protected the residences.

San Bernardino County Fire Department was quick to respond and extinguished the blaze as arson investigators from both County Fire and Sheriff's Department took charge of the investigation, revealing the suspect's efforts to flee and the calculated nature of his arson. Ochoa was transported for medical treatment before being booked and is now being held at West Valley Detention Center.
