
A swimmer who went missing near the Coronado ferry landing has been found deceased, as communicated by the Harbor Police yesterday afternoon. The search efforts came to an end when the responders located a body in the water that matched the missing person's description. 10News reported that the individual, identified as a man in his 40s, had unfortunately been pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident unfolded after the man, whose identity has not been disclosed, jumped into the water and began exhibiting signs of distress. According to statements by Officer Troy Nicol, the victim called out for assistance before submerging and did not resurface. The Coronado Police Department activated a search for the missing swimmer, with operations stretched to the north end of the city. A San Diego Police Department helicopter was also reported to have been involved, completing aerial surveillance to aid the search.
After several hours of search activities by emergency services and lifeguards participated in, the somber discovery was made. As is typical in such circumstances, the medical examiner's office will conduct a full autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
