After 35 years of spicing up Boston's downtown dining scene, Fajitas & ‘Ritas at 25 West St. will soon be closing its doors permanently. With a final day set for July 13, 2024, the Tex-Mex establishment known for its affordable and vibrant dishes and drinks, has asked its patrons to join in making the last days unforgettable, as reported by Boston.com. In a farewell post to their clientele, the restaurant expressed gratitude for the "support and memories we’ve shared over the years."
The closure announcement, abrupt to many, was attributed to the landlord's decision not to renew the lease, a situation beyond the control of owner Bradley Fredericks, who said, “The decision was not in my hands,” while speaking with Boston.com. Fajitas & ‘Ritas, which became a staple for downtown lunch crowds and the evening scene particularly among young adults, served a range of Tex-Mex favorites including their namesake fajitas and an extensive list of margaritas. Fredericks shared with MassLive that the restaurant was a success since its inception in March 1989, offering generous portions of fresh and healthy food.
Located in the vicinity of Boston Common and near the campuses of Suffolk University and Emerson, the restaurant also experienced a resurgence of patronage following the pandemic with a clientele leaning towards a younger demographic, a strategic choice by Frederick.
