Charlotte's streets were swept by a series of shootings early Tuesday, which police now suspect may be linked. The violent span kicked off just after 1:00 a.m. on the 3800 block of Statesville Avenue. There a life was claimed by gunfire, as confirmed in a statement from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. A $10,000 reward is now pledged for information leading to an arrest, and this, as detectives process evidence and comb thoroughly for any leads.
Within the hour of the initial shooting, three more incidents painted a picture of a neighborhood under siege though not physically injured, one individual reported being shot at while on a bicycle, simultaneously, shots believed to be from the same assailant struck another vehicle as well as a group of individuals and a residential home; a woman inside was wounded but is expected to survive. It is within the threads of these narratives, the proximity of the scenes, and the bullets' echo that a pattern emerges, suggesting a singular source of violence a fact acknowledged by authorities.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to yet another scene shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the Steele Creek Division where a bicyclist had fallen victim to a shooting; MEDIC transported the injured party for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds. A nearby dwelling too bore the brunt of gunfire, though no injuries were reported from the Kingsford Drive residence. An official CMPD release echoed the somber notes, detailing each event, each response, highlighting the painstaking investigation unfolding in the aftermath.
