
Yesterday, California Highway Patrol's Golden Gate Division Air Operations were called into service for a rescue mission near Mount Diablo after a 911 call reported two hikers in distress. According to the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations, the pair was lost and facing a medical emergency on an undisclosed trail.
The CHP air unit, known as H-30, quickly took action, coordinating with the San Ramon Valley Fire's HRT (Helicopter Rescue Team) to provide rapid assistance to the hikers. A fire HRT member was deployed to the location of the hikers, where they provided a medical assessment before the pair were hoisted into the helicopter. The hikers were then flown to an awaiting ambulance for further medical evaluation, ensuring a swift response to what could have escalated into a grave situation.
According to the CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations, this rescue is an example of the critical collaboration between multiple agencies, including the CHP and local fire services. In their message, the division emphasized the seamless teamwork that led to the positive conclusion of this emergency, highlighting the preparedness and coordination of all involved.
