The Dallas area faces a mix of weather conditions in the coming days, with the National Weather Service Fort Worth TX issuing both a forecast and a hazardous weather outlook. As reported by the National Weather Service today might bring a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm, and residents can expect a high near 89 degrees. A light southeast wind is set to become east-southeast at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy, cooling down to around 73 degrees.
Over the weekend, the odds for precipitation increase, with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 pm on Saturday. Similar weather is expected on Sunday, with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm, and it's all accompanied by forecasted highs near 89 and 93 degrees, respectively. According to the Hazardous Weather Outlook, "Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible across portions of Central and East Texas through tonight. Lightning is the primary hazard."
Next week, the forecast indicates a surge in temperatures. Dallas is bracing for intense heat as highs return to the 90s and 100s. By Tuesday, conditions are anticipated to be sunny and hot with a high near 99, escalating to around 100 on Wednesday, and remaining hot through Thursday. Nighttime lows during this period will only dip to the mid to high 70s.
The elevated temperatures bring added concerns. The Hazardous Weather Outlook warns, "Intense heat will return over the course of this upcoming week, as high temperatures return to the 90s and 100s accompanied by heat index values between 100 to 110." With such high indices, the risk of heat-related illnesses increases notably for vulnerable populations, and citizens are urged to stay hydrated and seek air-conditioned environments during peak heat hours. Importantly, spotter activation is not expected at this time, the weather service notes.
