As summer turns towards its latter half, Dallas families are looking ahead to the upcoming school year—and the City of Dallas is pitching in to ensure students set off on the right foot. The Mayor's Back to School Fair, a staple event offering crucial support to thousands of students, has been geared up once again to lighten the financial burden for families gearing up for the academic year.
This year's fair, making headway amidst the continuing pressures of economic strain in many communities, has opened its registration gates earlier than ever before on May 1. A significant response from the community was seen with 1,000 families signing up well in advance. According to the City of Dallas, registration ran until today, ensuring plenty of time for families to get their plans in place. However, to be eligible for the benefits of the fair, families must meet the specified income requirements that are contingent upon household income equaling or being less than the determined threshold.
The Back-to-School Fair is more than a mere distribution of school supplies—though those are indeed a draw, with the event helping approximately 10,000 students prepare for the year. The annual draw is substantial, with over 30,000 attendees each year participating.
