Authorities in the nation's capital are turning to the public to help track down an individual connected to the break-ins at two Northwest businesses earlier this month. The Metropolitan Police Department released a statement regarding the incidents, which occurred in the early hours of July 5, 2024. According to the MPD's request, the suspect is believed to have forcefully entered an establishment on the 3100 block of Mt. Pleasant Street, Northwest, escaping with stolen items.
Only forty-five minutes later, the same suspect appears to have continued their spree, forcefully entering another business located in the 1400 block of Park Road, Northwest. The MPD statement detailed that the suspect was again able to take property before fleeing the scene. Despite the early hour of these crimes, the audacity to rapidly hit two establishments close in time and distance suggests a brazenness that the police are eager to quickly suppress.
Investigators are scouring through surveillance footage and collecting evidence that may aid in the identification and capture of the suspect. The MPD has not released specific details about what was taken or the estimated value of the property stolen from either of the break-ins. The department has, however, urged anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward.
The police are hopeful that community cooperation will play a crucial role in resolving this case. By reaching out for public assistance, the MPD aims to not only identify but also apprehend the actor behind these burglaries expeditiously. Community members with any information are encouraged to contact the authorities, as these kinds of offenses severely impact the local businesses that are integral to the fabric of their neighborhoods. The Metropolitan Police Department can be reached via their official website or through their tip line.
