A Denton County firefighter continues his fight for recuperation following a serious off-duty motorcycle accident earlier this year. Corey Claytor, affiliated with Denton County Emergency Services District #1, sustained injuries from a collision on March 22. Claytor remains in the hospital, where he is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
In support of their colleague dealing with the aftermath and costs of the accident, the Argyle Professional Fire Fighters Local 5190 is rallying behind Claytor. By attending the collision, the first responders have also expressed their gratitude towards the healthcare providers, "for the care they have provided for our firefighter during his recovery.” These efforts cumulated in an initiative to raise funds to help cover the unexpected expenses that have arisen since Claytor's accident, according to the Denton County Emergency Services District #1.
Details about the cause of the collision and the full extent of Claytor's injuries have not been disclosed. Yet, what is clear is the community's willingness to offer back to someone who has dedicated his life to serving others. "We are humbled by the support of our community!” exclaimed the Denton County Emergency Services District #1, recognizing the collective embrace that has rallied around their injured team member.
The fundraiser, organized by the local firefighter's union, serves as a testament to the strength of the community bonds in Denton County. Injured while he was not on the clock, the resources pooled will aid Claytor through his rehabilitation process.
