Last Thursday night, an evening on the water turned from leisure to legal trouble for a male driver on Lake Sonoma. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Santa Rosa reported an incident involving a submerged vehicle after what appeared to be a mishap at the lake's main dock. According to a post by CHP Santa Rosa, the sequence of events unfolded when the man attempted to trailer his boat at the end of his day's outing.
The situation quickly escalated as the unidentified man’s attempt to load his boat resulted in both his trailer and truck being inadvertently pulled into the water. Rescue efforts were promptly initiated, but as officers interacted with the man, there was a clear indication that alcohol might have played a role in the aquatic accident. Signs of inebriation led to performing a DUI investigation right there on the soggy shores of the dock.
Ultimately, the investigation concluded that the driver was indeed under the influence. The man, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested and subjected to a medical evaluation at a local hospital. After the check-up, he was booked into jail, facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, denoted as 23152(a) CVC, and operating a vessel while under the influence, cited as 655(b) HNC. These serious allegations carry the weight of potential fines, license suspension, and even imprisonment.
