
A driver experienced a precarious situation Tuesday when his vehicle plunged into the San Gabriel River north of Seal Beach. As per Long Beach Fire Department reports obtained by CBS Los Angeles, the incident unfolded around 10:20 a.m. in an area between Seal Beach and Belmont Park. The submerged vehicle, a Jeep, was spotted with a man atop its roof.
The individual was promptly rescued and transported to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, as detailed by CBS Los Angeles. Dramatic aerial footage captured by 11 a.m. shows the submerged vehicle with an apparent hole in its roof. Despite the intense visual, no further specifics regarding the rescue or the circumstances leading to this event were released by the Long Beach Fire Department.
Simultaneously, as reported by NBC Los Angeles, the incident, added that the Long Beach Police Department was investigating how the Jeep ended up in the waters of Alamitos Bay. The operation involved various rescue components, including a fire engine, a lifeguard board, and a truck.
