In a noted drug enforcement action, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry confiscated a substantial haul of illegal substances with a combined street value of over half a million dollars. The seizure of these mixed narcotics, comprising methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl, is a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking along the U.S. borders.

According to a press release from the Customs and Border Protection, officers intercepted the narcotics on July 27 at the Camino Real International Bridge. A 2011 Dodge, driven by a 28-year-old male and lawful permanent U.S. resident, was referred for a closer inspection during which, CBP canines and non-intrusive inspection technology were employed, "Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain resolute vigilance and their effective use of inspection skill, training and technology yielded this significant mixed narcotics seizure," said Port Director Pete Beattie, of the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

The detailed examination led to the discovery of 40 packages containing nearly 33 pounds of alleged methamphetamine, two packages with a weight of 2.82 pounds of what is believed to be heroin, and six packages totaling 8.77 pounds of alleged fentanyl.
