The Links at Audubon, a staple of East Memphis' golf offerings, is set to swing back into action this week after an extensive two-year renovation effort. The golf course has added several new features including a six-hole short course, a state-of-the-art driving range, and a redesigned full 18-hole course. Children from around Memphis had the opportunity to christen the course with its first shots yesterday, teeing off a new era for the local golf community.

According to Action News 5, Architect Bill Bergin, known for creating inclusive golf landscapes, engineered the course to be accessible to players of all experience levels. Improved for broad public use, Nick Walker, Memphis Parks Director, underlined the impact of the upgrades. "It is about quality of life," he told Action News 5. "Every time that we invest in our parks, our pools, our community centers, and even our golf courses, we are investing in ourselves and we are investing in our future."

As summer temperatures climb, so will the number of rounds played across city courses this summer, with officials anticipating over 140,000 rounds. For those ready to test the revamped Links at Audubon, they will need to plan ahead. The Daily Memphian reports that bookings are required to be made online and must be pre-paid through August. Tee times begin to be available this Thursday, and bookings can be made exclusively via the course's official website.

With the hefty tag of $8.1 million associated with the renovations, Nick Walker emphasized the City’s commitment to bolstering its recreational amenities. "The importance of the City striving to improve its golf offerings even beyond the Links at Audubon renovation," Walker noted, ensuring the investments go beyond just a single course. This sentiment was captured by the Memphis Business Journal, illustrating a broader vision for Memphis' recreational infrastructure. As the Links at Audubon opens its doors once again, it stands as a paragon of the city's commitment to not only recreation but to its community enrichment initiatives as well.
