A tragic incident on a South Carolina highway has claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman, investigators reported. The crash happened just before 10 a.m. on Thursday along Highway 9 near Eastway Drive, roughly three miles east of Lancaster, as confirmed by WSOC-TV. Judy Stacks, the driver of a Honda sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene following a head-on collision with a Nissan SUV.
The two vehicles, the Honda and the Nissan, were traveling in opposing directions along the stretch of highway when the accident occurred, the South Carolina Highway Patrol detailed. Both occupants of the Nissan SUV sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment, as was informed by WCCB Charlotte. The names, and the condition of the Nissan occupants have not been released to the public as of yet.
This incident has spurred an investigation handled by both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office, according to QC News.
