The quietude of Encino is currently pierced by a string of burglaries, putting the community on high alert after a spree of crimes that have left residents unsettled. According to NBC Los Angeles, the most recent home invasion was reported late Monday in the 4000 block of Ballina Drive, with police responding around 10:30 p.m. to a home left vacant during the incident.
As per ABC7, the suspects wore a face mask, forced entry, and fled with undetermined belongings, earlier in the week a mother and daughter returned to their home to find it being raided, which led to the thieves escaping with valuables worth approximately $7,000 and this marked at least the sixth such incident in recent weeks.
The situation has escalated to a point of tangible fear, as residents like Evie Ball expressed to ABC7, "It makes me nervous because you think you live in a beautiful, safe, quiet neighborhood and then you realize we're not safe."
While the Los Angeles Police Department has yet to establish a connection between these burglaries, the recent upturn in criminal activity continues to be a pressing issue with CBS News Los Angeles reporting at least six break-ins for the month of July alone. The investigation remains ongoing.
