Tragedy struck Indianapolis' near southeast side early Monday, where a shooting resulted in one fatality. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department stated that the incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on the 1400 block of Nelson Ave, a location comfortably nestled northeast of the intersection of Shelby Street and East Troy Avenue, and a stone's throw east of Interstate 65. According to FOX59, officers arrived after receiving a report of someone being shot.
Upon their premature arrival, police found the victim, who was then transported to the hospital in critical condition, only to later die from their injuries. The identity of the victim, as well as what precisely led to the tragic shooting, remains under wraps at this hour details, IMPD has not released. An IMPD captain did offer a sliver of narrative to 13News, saying, "officers responding to an incomplete 911 call were directed by a neighbor to a home where gunshots were heard."
