Fort Bend County is quickly becoming a hotbed for food lovers with a series of new restaurant openings that are strategically sprinkling the Texan culinary landscape with a diversity of flavors. According to records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the county is set to add five new eateries, ranging from Canadian comfort food to Chicago-style hot dogs.

The Canadian chicken and waffles chain, Cluck Clucks, is poised to launch its first U.S. location in First Colony Commons Shopping Center in Sugar Land. Owner Ali Rizvi said he picked Sugar Land due to its diversity and the existing demand for Halal chicken in the area, as he told the Houston Chronicle. Scheduled to open by the end of July, Cluck Clucks is known for dishes like Holy Cluck and Shut the Cluck, sided with options such as Hot Tender Clucks and Clucked Up Poutine.

Not to be outdone, the Windy City's Portillo's Hot Dog is set to dig its heels into Texan soil with two new locations in Katy and Stafford, and a third planned for Dallas. Renowned for its hot dogs, char-broiled burgers, and beef and sausage sandwiches, the Katy location could start greeting customers by August. Over in Stafford, the mixed-use development on the corner of Nexus Ave and U.S. 59 is expected to finish construction come November.

Smoothie enthusiasts can also look forward to a new Smoothie King in Sugar Land, expected to complete construction in September. With the new location at 13607 University, Suite 200, patrons will have access to an array of smoothie blends, as well as fitness and energy drinks. Additionally, Utah's gourmet cookie company Chip Cookies will satisfy sweet tooths in Katy at 806 Fort Bend, Suite 160B, adjacent to a new Oh Mmm Gyros location—both franchises owned by Prince Dhoat who runs a Houston-based gyro chain.

On another note, Thai Town has recently soft opened its doors in April at 222 Hwy. 6, Ste. 500, Sugar Land, completing the county's culinary expansion. The establishment, founded by Chef Ten Sampaotong and Kat Kannoi, offers taste buds an authentic Thai experience with online buzz suggesting the chicken satay and shrimp dumplings topped with fish roe as must-try dishes. Thai Town revealed that staff are gearing up for a grand opening in June. Their commitment to origin-authentic cuisine was evidenced when their managing partner explained in an email, "Sampaotong crafts each dish from scratch, and the menu blends flavors from across Thailand in an effort to showcase the diversity of the country's culinary landscape," as reported by Community Impact.
