The sequence of events started when the victim exited the store and was blindsided by the alleged assailant. Described as a black male in his 20s with a slender build, medium-length afro, and a slight mustache, and beard, the suspect launched his attack from behind, trying to snatch the victim's purse and bags. The attack was the culmination of a stalking that began inside the store, where surveillance footage caught the suspect's movements – including an attempt to strike up a conversation with another woman, before focusing on the eventual victim. The suspect was sporting a blue t-shirt emblazoned with “Grapevine Mustangs,” as well as dark pants and light-colored shoes.
Having failed in his attempt, the suspect was seen fleeing in the direction of a nearby apartment complex, leading to speculation that he may reside in the vicinity. The Fort Worth Police Department, to bring the individual to justice and to encourage community vigilance, has shared the surveillance video on social media platforms.
