
Four individuals, including a 14-year-old boy, were hospitalized following a drive-by shooting in South Los Angeles on Sunday night. As reported by KTLA, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene near 51st Street and Avalon Boulevard shortly before 8 p.m. Police indicated that the victims were crossing the street when they were shot at by suspects in a vehicle. The attackers, described only as males, used a handgun and subsequently fled the area.
The aftermath of the incident was marked by a substantial police presence, with more than a dozen evidence markers dotting the street, as per footage shared by CBS Los Angeles. The area around the 400 block of E. 51st Street and Avalon Boulevard was cordoned off with crime tape. Three of the shooting victims were able to quickly get themselves to the hospital, while paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department swiftly rushed to transport the youngest victim, the 14-year-old, to medical care.
While currently all victims are in stable condition, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear and no additional details regarding the incident have been disclosed. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the violent event that disrupted the night in South Los Angeles.
