A security guard was arrested in Irvine for the alleged theft of a teenager's electric bicycle. The suspect, identified as Adrian Norberto Lopez Silva, a 22-year-old Fullerton resident, is said to have stolen the bike last Thursday from the Rattlesnake Reservoir in the Orchard Hills area, just north of Portola Parkway and behind Fire Station #55, as reported by the Irvine Police Department.
Following the theft of his Super 73 e-bike, the 13-year-old owner filed a police report and unexpectedly found his bike listed for sale online. Irvine detectives, in an attempt to subtly recover the stolen property, posed as prospective buyers to arrange a meeting with Silva, according to FOX LA. Upon confirmation that the e-bike was indeed the one reported stolen, police proceeded to arrest Silva.
"Today, detectives posed as interested buyers and met with the seller. (Insert the surprise surprise lady.) After confirming the bike for sale was the victim's, the seller, Adrian Norberto Lopez Silva, 22, of Fullerton, was arrested for having stolen property," as stated by the Irvine Police Department. The brazen act led Silva from patrolling the premises as a security guard to being booked into the Orange County Jail.
