A Baltimore County man is now facing a series of felony charges after being accused of a road rage incident involving a firearm. The Maryland State Police apprehended 37-year-old Reginald Johnson of Gwynn Oak yesterday on charges including felony assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. According to the official press release, Johnson is being held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
Johnson's arrest followed a complaint made by another motorist, who claimed to have seen a red handgun brandished during a confrontation on I-97 near I-895 on July 17. Maryland State Troopers conducted an investigation that led to quickly seizing a loaded gun from Johnson's vehicle. If convicted, Johnson could face a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.
The incident adds to the ongoing narrative of gun-related violence on Maryland highways. The Maryland Department of State Police reminds motorists to follow driving regulations strictly and maintain safety practices to help prevent similar incidents.
Police are seeking information on these and other highway gun-related crimes and encourage anyone with information to call 410-538-1887.
