Tragedy struck Iosco County late Tuesday night as a drunk driving incident resulted in one fatality and injuries to others. According to ABC12, a 34-year-old man from Hale is now facing charges for operating while intoxicated causing death. Police reports indicate that the suspect was behind the wheel of a Ford Taurus traveling north on M-65, near Slosser Road when the accident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m.
The aftermath was heartrending, a 42-year-old Hale resident who had been operating a Fiat 500 collided with the Taurus and was pronounced dead after being transported to a regional hospital. His 22-year-old passenger, and the accused drunk driver both sustained minor injuries in the chaos of twisted metal and shattered glass. The driver, whose name has not yet been released by officials, was taken to a hospital for his injuries before being lodged in the Iosco County Jail, official sources relayed their account of the night's events.
