The Houston Police Department has actively charged 30-year-old James Harris with murder, following a deadly shooting that occurred on Saturday night at an apartment complex located at 5900 Greens Road. According to a news release, the incident took place around 9:50 p.m. and left one man dead at the scene. The identity of the 28-year-old victim is still being confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Upon arrival, responding officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds and unresponsive. It was stated in the news release that the Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests that a phone call from an acquaintance led the victim outside to quickly settle a previous dispute, which resulted in the fatal shooting.
Detectives K. Hale and B. Stephens from the HPD Homicide Division are overseeing the inquiry into the killing. Information gathered through investigation and witness statements pointed to "Jay Foe" Harris as the alleged shooter. Following this, the Harris County District Attorney's Office issued a murder charge against Harris, who is currently not in custody and remains at large.
