A tragic accident unfolded this morning in southwest Houston, leaving a young man in a grave condition after he was shot in the head. The Houston Police Department reported that the incident happened at approximately 2:05 a.m. at an apartment complex on 6351 Richmond Avenue, as FOX26 Houston detailed.
The victim, a man believed to be around 19 or 20 years of age, was involved in what appears to have been a misjudged attempt to safely handle a loaded pistol, which inadvertently discharged. In a related coverage, CW39 reports that the young man and a friend were playing with the firearm when it accidentally went off as his friend tried to remove it from his hands. This split-second mishap rapidly turned to inadvertently become a life-threatening situation for the young man.
Following the incident, the wounded man was rapidly transported to a hospital nearby, as per FOX26 Houston, where he remains in critical condition.
