Yesterday, a routine patrol by Santa Rosa Police led to the arrest of a juvenile carrying a loaded firearm. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, Special Enforcement Team officers were on duty around 4:58 p.m. when they identified a young individual with an outstanding warrant and known gang affiliations on Cleveland Avenue.

The situation escalated when the juvenile attempted to flee the scene, igniting a short chase quickly. The officers managed to apprehend the suspect after a brief pursuit. On the individual, a concealed Glock model 17, 9mm handgun with a 17-round magazine inserted, was found. Notably, the firearm's serial numbers had been intentionally removed, a detail highlighted by the SRPD.

In addition to the handgun, the officers found a separate 30-round magazine, which contained 22 rounds of ammunition. The juvenile, whose name has been withheld due to their minor status, now faces multiple charges. These include carrying a loaded firearm in public, minor in possession of a concealed handgun, obliterating identifying firearm markings, and resisting arrest, in addition to their outstanding warrant.
