Lincoln County has teamed up with Duke Energy to break ground on the Beatty’s Ford Swim Beach Project, which is set to enhance public recreation on Lake Norman. Located at the end of Unity Church Road in Denver, the construction of Beatty's Ford Beach is making strides towards providing a public swim area, marked by a range of new features aimed at boosting leisure and access.
The project's scope includes the establishment of a public beach designed for swimming, an accessible fishing pier, a concession building complete with amenities, additional parking spaces, and a drive designed to facilitate safer park entry and departure. The initiative is part of a larger effort propelled by Duke Energy’s commitments under the Catawba-Wateree license, which calls for recreational improvements along with ecological considerations for aquatic life. Despite the construction activity, Duke Energy and the parks department urge locals to respect the signage and maintain a safe distance from the construction zones, thereby ensuring everyone's safety.
A statement from Lincoln County Parks and Recreation hints at the potential of this endeavor. We are very excited for this project as it will add another amenity for Lincoln County families and visitors, Lake Norman is the largest man-made lake in the state of North Carolina, and creating a safe and enjoyable access for the public to enjoy adds to the caliber of our community,
Parks and Recreation Director John Davis told the public. He underlines Lake Norman's standing as the largest man-made lake in the state, which implies that such developments are significant enhancements to the area's appeal and usability, as reported by Lincoln County North Carolina.
Projected to complete in the Fall of 2024, the Beatty’s Ford Beach will open its arms to the public in May 2025, marking it as the third designated public swimming locale on Lake Norman. This adds a not just another leisure point for the community's locals, but also for those who make their way to Lincoln County in search of its natural allure and offerings.
