The Lewisville City Council is gearing up to give residents a transparent look at the municipal purse strings during its annual budget workshop. The event, as reported by the City of Lewisville, Texas, is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Within the accessible confines of Lewisville City Hall's Lower Level, citizens are invited to observe council members as they deliberate fiscal priorities for the approaching cycle. This yearly fiscal rendezvous, occurring at 151 W. Church Street, promises to directly involve the community in a daylong dive into the numbers.
Those who prefer to virtually engage—or simply can't attend in person—are encouraged to not only observe but also to actively participate by tuning into the City of Lewisville YouTube channel, where the workshop will be live-streamed. Through this digital gateway, officials hope to further extend their reach and welcome a broader demographic to see the intricacies of their city’s finances.
Preceding this workshop will be a series of decisive public meetings, penned later in the same month of August and continuing into September. Here, the Lewisville community will have the opportunity to both listen and speak on matters regarding the budget, property tax rate, and water/wastewater rates. These sessions, marking stages of argument and decision, are part of the council's efforts to maintain an open dialogue with the public they serve—a dialogue critical in shaping the outcomes of their shared habitat.
