As the summer sun beats a gradual retreat, the Sun Valley Aquatic Center in Lewisville is shifting gears to match the rhythmic patterns of the impending school year. According to an update from the City of Lewisville, Texas, the popular local water haven is set to alter its swimming schedule, beginning Saturday, Aug. 12, to accommodate weekends only, as students prepare to return to the grind of academia.
With the Lewisville ISD schools swinging to set into motion on Wednesday, Aug. 13, the aquatic center finds itself temporarily anchored to the tides of reduced demand. It's slated to be open from 1-6 p.m. on Saturdays and from 2-6 p.m. on Sundays, all the way up to its summer season closure on Sept. 3. This annual schedule shift stands as a testament to the ebb and flow of community rhythms, where the availability of its stewards, the lifeguards, must also to begin to prioritize their own scholastic pursuits.
The center, conveniently situated at 801 S. Valley Parkway alongside Lewisville High School, is more than just a place to cool off—it's a veritable oasis of summer delight. With an array of attractions that include twin double-loop slides, a lazy river, and a tot pool, the aquatic center offers a leisure pool replete with play features and a 25-yard competition pool for those who want to engage in lap swimming.
However, visitors should note that depending on staffing, some of the more splashy features may not be up for grabs during this adjusted schedule. Residents interested in taking one last plunge before the Park's services are sun-setted for the season should call ahead at 972.210.3550 to confirm which amenities will be available for their enjoyment. As for the cost of admission, it is as accessible as the pristine waters themselves—$4 for Lewisville residents, a buck more for non-residents, and free for children aged 2 or under.
