Thrive, the city's beloved multi-generational recreation center is set for a brief pause in operations. From August 19th through the 25th, the facility will shut down to undergo its annual maintenance and cleaning efforts. This yearly ritual is aimed at preserving the building's integrity and ensuring the community can continue to indulge in top-tier programs within a pristine environment, according to the City of Lewisville, Texas.
The temporary closure is a routine checkpoint for the health of the center, which has been a hub of activity since its inception in October 2020, during this time the staff at Thrive will be diving into a range of tasks designed to upkeep and bolster the site's physical condition, services, and equipment which otherwise are in perpetual motion, serving the city's populace day in and day out. Not to worry though, because Thrive has its patrons covered with alternatives—Thrive's members are urged to join in on free fitness classes at Wayne Ferguson Plaza, as offered by the center during the downtime.
When the maintenance curtains lift, Thrive will spring back to action, bright and early at 5 a.m. on August 26th. Until this intermission concludes, the center is determined to keep its community in motion, providing opportunities to partake in some al fresco fitness. A variety of classes—which include yoga on Wednesday at 6 p.m., bodyweight strength on Thursday at 6:15 p.m., Pilates on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., and Tai Chi following right after at 9:30 a.m.—are slated to unfold beneath the open skies of Old Town Lewisville's Wayne Ferguson Plaza.
