A somber scene unfolded in Long Beach, where a tragic shooting claimed the life of 44-year-old Jeffrey Poorman. According to KTLA, officers discovered Poorman with multiple gunshot wounds in his garage on the 5900 block of Lime Avenue. Despite the efforts of the Long Beach Fire Department, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Long Beach Police Department worked swiftly to quickly identify and arrest 19-year-old Mathew De Diego as the suspect. De Diego, who was known to the victim before the incident, is currently held at Long Beach City Jail on a $3 million bail. The Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish was quoted saying, "In less than seven hours, LBPD personnel identified and safely arrested this violent murder suspect, once again demonstrating the focus we will maintain on capturing those willing to victimize others," as stated by the official Long Beach Police Department release.
While the exact motive for the shooting is still under investigation by detectives, the police have appealed for more witnesses to come forward.
