In two separate incidents, the Long Beach Police Department reported success in removing firearms from public streets, highlighting the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address gun violence. According to the LBPD's official statement on their website, officers responded to a call about a person with a gun at Long Beach Boulevard and 16th Street on July 26, just before half-past six in the evening.
During their on-the-ground investigation, officers managed to safely locate the suspect and recover the firearm involved. The individual in question was arrested, though the case remains under active investigation. Later that evening, around 8:22 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of 20th St and Lewis Ave. In the course of this routine traffic stop, another firearm was unearthed and promptly seized. A suspect was taken into custody in this second instance as well, with further inquiries pending.
The LBPD has not released the identities of those apprehended, nor have they disclosed details regarding the circumstances leading to the encounters.
