
A fire erupted in the rear section of a two-story home in Harbor Gateway on the afternoon of July 26th, which prompted a response from Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters. According to an LAFD alert, the incident, logged as INC#1149, saw heavy fire at the residence located at 1632 W 221st St. The first responders arrived on the scene at approximately 3:53 PM to combat the flames.
The incident required the mobilization of multiple fire companies, including E248, E285, E49, E79, E85, RA38, RA79, T48, and T85 under the direction of Battalion Chiefs BC11 and BC6, which worked to confine and extinguish the blaze, despite the initial intensity of the fire, it was a scene that bore witness to the urgency and orchestration of our city's emergency services, each member and machine involved in a dance of danger and determination to quell the destruction before them. Fire Station 85, positioned within Council District 15, stood as the primary station overseeing the efforts.
The firefighters achieved a knockdown of the fire in a commendable 32 minutes after their arrival. They contained and extinguished a kitchen fire that had spread to involve the rear portion of the 2,414-square-foot residence significantly, as noted in a subsequent LAFD update. No injuries were reported in the aftermath of the fire, and the cause of the fire remained under investigation following the incident.
