Los Angeles fire brigades were called to action on Tuesday afternoon to contain a brush fire near the Hansen Dam. According to a report by CBS News Los Angeles, the incident, which scorched an area of approximately two acres, saw city and county crews working diligently to extinguish the flames.
The blaze, quickly coined the "Stone Fire," prompted a response from not only the Los Angeles Fire Department but also the Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Department. In a statement obtained by KTLA, firefighters reported to the scene around 2:40 p.m. at 11798 W. Foothill Blvd. The efforts of the combined fire services managed to quickly contain the fire in less than an hour. There were no immediate injuries or structural damages reported, and investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire.
As detailed by LAFD’s alert, the firefighting teams remained on the site beyond the initial containment to address potential hot spots and to ensure that all threats were neutralized. The fire burned in a remote area, posing no threat to nearby structures or necessitating evacuations.
While the fire was held to a relatively small area, the quick coordination between different agencies highlights the preparedness and efficiency of the region's emergency response units. LAFD, alongside their county and federal counterparts, proved to again be ready to quickly and effectively respond to the unexpected danger.
