In a substantial crackdown on organized retail crime, the Los Angeles Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF) has made several arrests following a search warrant on a fencing operation in Inglewood, as detailed by LAPD Newsroom and KTLA. The task force was informed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) of a "flash robbery" committed by three suspects in East Los Angeles, who were subsequently spotted delivering new merchandise to a suspected fencing business on W. Manchester Boulevard.
The business, identified as Tilt at 2720 West Manchester Blvd, had been previously reported to be linked to stolen merchandise by another business in March. Investigators were quick to stake out the business and awaited the right moment to serve a search warrant. In an apparently synchronized takedown, three individuals arrived in a black BMW to hand over stolen shoes and clothing. Task force members moved in to serve the search warrant as soon as the suspects entered the premises.
Five individuals were detained during the bust: Aaron Isreal, Trevian Holmes, Brian McKing, Jahiem Gillett, and Devontay Pinson, facing a range of charges including robbery and possession of stolen property. Israel is also possibly facing additional firearms-related charges due to a prior record. In the course of their investigation, officers recovered a gun, cash, and various items identified by their owners as stolen from local shops.
With the investigation ongoing, authorities are urging anyone with information about retail crimes to come forward. Tips can be anonymously submitted online or by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. Moreover, the public is encouraged to directly send any potentially relevant videos or photos to the Organized Retail Crime Task Force.
