The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at nearly 7 p.m., when deputies were called to the location due to aggressive behavior from the subject, identified as Joshua Harmon, 44, of Apple Valley.

According to the sheriff's department's account, Harmon did not heed park personnel's requests to leave the area and had brandished a knife. Deputy D. Martin, who first responded to the scene, was met with combativeness from Harmon. Additional deputies from nearby agencies were needed to assist in restraining and arresting Harmon, during which a knife and methamphetamine were discovered in his vehicle, the sheriff's department said.

Following the altercation, Harmon was taken into custody and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. He faces charges of terrorist threats and obstructing a peace officer, along with outstanding warrants. As he awaits further proceedings, Harmon is being held on a $60,000.00 bail.
