
Authorities are searching for a man charged in a double shooting that took place earlier this year. In a news release from the City of Houston, officials stated that the suspect, identified as Charles Dee Strain III, faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Strain, 35, is accused of shooting two men, ages 37 and 32, at the corner of Oakdale Street and Almeda Road, near State Highway 288, and North MacGregor Way, the incident occurred on March 24 at around 2:55 a.m. Both victims were found wounded in a vehicle by HPD patrol officers who were, flagged down by a bystander. They were later transported to an area hospital by the Houston Fire Department paramedics and reported to be in stable condition.
According to HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives V. Garcia and V. Gamez, the suspect allegedly shot the men as their vehicle was stopped at a stop sign. Following the initial police work and statements from witnesses, along with evidence gathered at the scene, Strain was identified as the alleged shooter.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office has since filed charges against Strain, however, he remains at large. As the investigation continues, authorities have not discerned a motive for the shooting. Police are now seeking the public's help to locate the suspect.
