Mark Randle Convicted of First-Degree Murder in Disappearance of Fairfield Woman Erica BrownSource: Fairfield Police Department

The saga of Erica Brown's disappearance reached a somber milestone as her former boyfriend, Mark Randle, was found guilty of her murder. According to a press release from the Fairfield Police Department, the jury returned a verdict of first-degree murder last Thursday, following a trial that began on July 10.

Randle, a 45-year-old Fairfield man, was the prime suspect in the case of 36-year-old Erica Brown, who was last seen at her residence on August 20, 2023. Brown was reported missing five days later. Despite extensive efforts to locate her, she has yet to be found. In a report by Hoodline, it was suggested that authorities feared she may not be alive.

The Fairfield Police Department dedicated significant resources to the investigation of Brown’s disappearance, which eventually led to Randle's arrest. He was apprehended in Sacramento with the assistance of the local Police Department's Career Criminal Apprehension Team and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office S.W.A.T Unit, as noted by the Fairfield Police Department.

During the trial, irrefutable evidence was presented, including but not limited to witness and officer testimony, cellular phone data, video surveillance, and DNA evidence, which led to the conviction of Randle. The Fairfield Police Department hoped the verdict would bring some peace to Brown’s family and friends. Fairfield Police also thanked several agencies for their cooperation, including the Investigations Division & CSI Unit, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, californiadepartmentofjustice, the Serological Research Institute, and the Sacramento Police Department.
