A tragic event unfolded in Marysville over the weekend when a man was fatally stabbed. Identified as 42-year-old Elva Leroy Frederick II, the victim succumbed to his injuries after being attacked early Saturday. KCRA reports that the Yuba County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported physical disturbance in the 1100 block of North Beale Road at around 12:05 a.m.
Upon deputies' arrival, Frederick was found with stab wounds. He was quickly transported to the Adventist Rideout Hospital, where, despite efforts to save his life, he was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office then launched a homicide investigation, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Michael Collier of Linda, who was identified as a suspect through security footage. "Detectives were called to the scene to begin a homicide investigation," detailed the Yuba County Sheriff's Office on KCRA.
The apprehension of Collier came as law enforcement reviewed the security camera footage, which allowed them to place him at the scene. ABC10 notes that Collier was questioned by deputies at their office prior to being detained and booked on suspicion of homicide.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the stabbing continues, with the Sheriff's Office piecing together events of that fateful night. As this is an ongoing case, further details are expected to emerge as the deputies delve deeper into the sequence of actions that culminated in this act of violence.
