Fright-seekers rejoice as Universal Orlando has begun unraveling the mayhem that awaits at this year's Halloween Horror Nights 33. The spine-tingling event, kickstarting August 30 and running through November 3, has announced a slate of attractions that promises to serve up pure terror across Universal Studios. If the idea of medieval torture devices and zombie-infested swamps tickles your fear fancy, you're in for a treat—or a trick—with two elaborately themed scare zones as per FOX 35 Orlando.
This year's fright fest introduces "Torture Faire" and "Swamp of the Undead", just two of an eventual five scare zones designed to thrill. "Torture Faire" is a twisted take on a renaissance fair, where guests will navigate "gloriously gory medieval torture devices", while "Swamp of the Undead" transports them to a Louisiana backwater brimming with zombies spawned from nefarious means, reports FOX 35 Orlando. True to Universal's style, the rest of the zones are shrouded in mystery but are sure to contribute to an unforgettable horror mosaic. And, for those who prefer their scares with a side of exclusivity, Universal is offering the new Premium Scream Night—a one-night, reduced-crowd experience.
Not content with scare zones alone, Universal is also rolling out nine bone-chilling haunted houses, as detailed by Click Orlando. Among the headliners are experiences pulled from iconic horror properties like "A Quiet Place" and "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" as well as original nightmares such as "Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America" and "The Museum: Deadly Exhibits". The 10th house remains cloaked in secrecy, sure to reveal itself as another heart-pounding element of the 48-night event.
Tickets are already on sale, with a variety of options to match any eager ghoul's budget or bravery level. Single-night tickets begin at $82.99, while passes like the Halloween Horror Nights Frequent Fear Pass open the door to multiple nights of mayhem.
